Grubhub recently disclosed a significant data breach involving the unauthorized access of personal information from its customers, merchants, and drivers. The company traced the breach to a third-party service provider after noticing unusual activity in its internal systems. Hackers were able to access personal details such as names, emails, phone numbers, and partial payment card information of some users, including those who used Grubhub’s Campus Dining service. Although Grubhub acted swiftly to terminate the compromised account and remove the service provider from its systems, the company has not revealed how many people were affected or the exact timing of the breach. Fortunately, sensitive information like bank account details and Social Security numbers remained unaffected.
